Terms of Service
Angles of Recovery Care LLC (a Massachusetts limited liability company) · Effective May 18, 2026 · Last updated July 6, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AORC services at app.anglesofrecoverycare.com (the member web application), anglesofrecoverycare.com (the marketing site), and admin.anglesofrecoverycare.com (the staff portal) (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Angles of Recovery Care LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("AORC," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and — for the health-related information you share — our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Not medical advice (CRITICAL)
AORC is a wellness and self-help tool. It is not a medical device, not a substitute for professional medical, psychiatric, or addiction treatment, and not a healthcare provider. The exercises, content, and recommendations in the Service are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
Always seek the advice of a licensed healthcare provider with any questions about a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or used in AORC.
If you are in crisis, in danger, or considering suicide or self-harm, call or text 988 (U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911 immediately. Do not rely on AORC for emergency support. AORC is daily support — not a crisis service, and not a monitoring or emergency-response service.
3. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
4. Account & subscription
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- One person per account; do not share accounts
- AORC offers a single paid subscription: $9.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial for new members, billed through Stripe. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the trial converts to a paid subscription and your payment method is charged $9.99/month
- Subscriptions auto-renew monthly until canceled. Cancel anytime in Profile → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- We do not offer refunds for partial periods, except where required by law
- Coupon, discount, and comp-group access (for clients of partner treatment centers and programs) is governed by your relationship with that organization; final pricing and trial terms are always shown at checkout
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to access another user’s account or data
- Post content that identifies other members without their permission
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service
- Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise security
- Resell or redistribute the Service
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Your content
- Journal entries, check-in responses, and reflections you create remain yours
- You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content as needed to provide the Service
- You are responsible for the content you submit
- We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law
Staff access. If you enrolled through a treatment center, recovery program, or other organization (for example with a coupon or group code), authorized staff of that organization may review your scoped data — check-in summaries, journal entries, and crisis flags — through the staff portal at admin.anglesofrecoverycare.com. That access is limited by role (super administrator, administrator, counselor), scoped to your group or organization by row-level database security, and authentication-gated, and administrative actions taken in the portal are logged. You can end a program’s access at any time by leaving the group from your Profile page, or by emailing ethan@anglesofrecoverycare.com (this does not cancel a subscription you pay for yourself). AORC’s own staff and engineers may also access data only as needed for support and incident response, under role-based access controls. If you did not enroll through an organization, your data is never shared with any program. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
7. AI-generated content
The Service uses AWS Bedrock (Claude) for AI in two distinct ways: (1) to generate exercise recommendations from de-identified check-in data and group context — no name, contact information, free text, or account ID is sent; and (2) for safety, to classify journal entries, written check-in answers, and exercise reflections for crisis risk when the on-device check is inconclusive (see §17). Both run under our signed AWS Business Associate Agreement.
AI output is not always accurate, may contain errors, and should be treated as a suggestion, not a directive. Do not rely on AI output for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including all software, designs, exercises, text, graphics, and logos, is owned by AORC or its licensors and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute it without our written permission.
9. Service availability
We aim for the Service to be available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take the platform offline for maintenance, with notice when possible.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AORC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100.
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AORC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration in Massachusetts under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You and AORC waive any right to a jury trial or class action.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion by contacting ethan@anglesofrecoverycare.com (see §18); our team will process the deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to terms
We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If a material change would expand how we collect, use, or share your health-related information, it will not apply to you until we have obtained your renewed opt-in consent. Corrections and clarifications that do not reduce your rights may take effect when posted, with the "Last updated" date above revised. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of changes that do not require renewed consent.
16. SMS communications
When you opt in via the phone-verification card in your profile, Angles of Recovery Care may send SMS messages to your number for the following purposes only:
- One-time verification codes
- Wellness and crisis-support notifications you have explicitly requested
- Check-in and wellness reminder notices you have enabled
What we do NOT do via SMS:
- We do not engage in affiliate marketing, lead generation, or third-party advertising via SMS or any other channel.
- We do not share, sell, or rent your phone number to third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose unrelated to delivering the messages above.
- We do not use your phone number to send promotional content from other companies.
Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out; reply HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies depending on the wellness/crisis features you enable. For more detail on how we handle the data tied to your phone number, see our Privacy Policy.
17. Crisis detection and staff notification
To support your safety, AORC screens journal entries, written check-in answers, and exercise reflections for signs of a crisis. You should understand how this works before you use the Service:
- On-device first. Your text is first screened locally in your browser; that local check itself does not send your text anywhere. If it matches, you are shown crisis resources (988, Crisis Text Line, 911).
- AI classification. If the on-device check does not match and your entry is more than a few words long — roughly 20 characters, or roughly 10 characters for short written check-in answers — the text of that entry, which may contain identifiable information, is sent to AWS Bedrock (Claude) to classify crisis risk, under our signed AWS Business Associate Agreement. The classification service does not log or store your text.
- The crisis record. If any layer flags a crisis signal — or our safety check cannot complete or cannot confidently rule one out — a crisis event is recorded, and that record includes a short excerpt of the flagged entry (up to about 200 characters) so authorized staff reviewing the flag in the staff portal can understand it. The excerpt is visible only inside the authentication-gated staff portal and is never included in any notification.
- Staff notification. When a crisis event is recorded, subscribed staff at the program you enrolled through (if any) and AORC platform administrators who have subscribed are notified by email and, where enabled, SMS. The alert contains no member-identifying content and never any of your words. An email alert contains only: a severity tier (CRISIS or MONITOR), your group name, your organization or program name, an internal event ID that lets staff open the flag in the staff portal, and — for the most urgent tier only — a fixed, pre-written urgency label indicating that explicit self-harm language was detected (never the language itself); the rest is fixed template text. An SMS alert contains even less: the severity tier, your group name, and the event link. Alerts never contain your name, contact details, journal or check-in text, scores, or any excerpt. Staff review the flag by signing in to admin.anglesofrecoverycare.com, which is authentication-gated and role-scoped; administrative actions taken there are logged. If you did not enroll through a program, no outside organization is notified.
This safety net is automated; it is not a continuous human monitoring service or an emergency response service, and it is not a substitute for calling 988 or 911. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
